Adobe publishes streaming protocol

Adobe Systems announced Tuesday that it plans to publish the specifications of the protocol RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) for transmission of high-quality audio, video or data between Adobe technologies.

RTMP has been developed by Adobe to manage the flow of streaming with Flash Media Server. The specifications would be included in the project-led Adobe Open Screen Project, a project to enable the creation of a Memorandum of display terminals to allow a user experience the same on all screens.

"We are currently opening documentation and specifications as we did for SWF (Flash file format) and PDF (Portable Document Format) to provide market access," said Jennifer Taylor, product manager Adobe Flash.

She added: "The Flex developers and companies that implement the specification will provide stream video, audio or data regardless of the terminal used or where data proviennent.Un example of potential use would be to incorporate different terminals to produce a stream of streaming security camera to databases.

"It is a protocol when the intelligent routing of data, so you can expect it to be used in different contexts," says Taylor.

The specifications are expected to website Adobe Developer Connection in the first half of this year 2009.

Supports RTMP AMF (Action Message Format), SWF, FLV (video) and formats F4V compatible with the Adobe Flash Player.

To be complete, we can add that the RTMP contains no security layer. Developers should therefore use their own measures to secure their contents.

Exit of Flash 10

Adobe offers to download the Flash Player 10. This version can rely on graphics cards to carry out its tasks and calculations and unload the CPU. It also has a new engine to improve the reporting and handling of the texts (bindings, writing from left to right) of capacity Animation 2D elements in 3D space, management colors where contents SWF are transformed into RGB. On its website, Adobe ensures that its software is fully compatible with Firefox 2.x, Firefox 3.x, AOL for Mac OS X, Opera 9.5, Safari 3.x., IE 6.x and IE 7.x.

There is a tutorial on the Adobe website to show you how to develop in Flash 10 with Flex.

I will present shortly in more detail included in the new Adobe Flash 10.

Note that the launch of Flash 10 intervenes 24 hours after the Microsoft Silverlight 2.0.

Openspace: a new universe 3D in Flash

Here openspace, a new tool for creating virtual universe in isometric 3D Flash. The cost is not yet known, but these universes have the enormous advantage of turning in a Web browser.

Openspace turns in AS3 and therefore offers a map editor to facilitate their creation.

You will soon buy a book on AS3 and Flash 9? Here is a beautiful book produced after months of efforts by Thibault Imbert on the flash and the practice of actionscript 3. Originally scheduled to be published by O'Reilly, it's 1093 pages are finally available under Creative Commons license and can be downloaded directly on the Internet. He finally found a publisher since the paper version will be available soon: 1093 pages in PDF to read it is a bit much!
