A taste of Catalyst

January 12 2009 by Julien Lestel

catalyst thermo We know more about the former Thermo Flash now called Catalyst. The latter was presented at the latest Adobe MAX is available on Adobe Labs. Recall that the purpose of Catalyst is to facilitate a direct interface to the image format (Photoshop or Illustrator) created by a graphic artist by affecting behavior. It is then possible to view the report and export it for a Flex developer. This will make possible direct prototyping RIA. A presentation by Peter Flynn shows that.

A 15-minute video gives an overview of what can be done with Flash Catalyst.

Thermo: rich interfaces for all!

October 25th 2007 by Julien Lestel

Web 2.0 is carried primarily by a renewal of user interfaces, and in this area, the development of rich Flex interfaces are extremely interesting and are a lot of talk right now.

Adobe does not announce new features to the delight of developers like us. Flex Builder 3 is eagerly awaited and I am also amused to do some testing with the beta (very buggy):
http://www.infomedsolutions.com/testflex/

(based on the component PixFormat, it lets you modify an image via the gd2 library and generates a URL to reuse the results online).

But in Adobe's most interesting is yet to come and a future tool may even precipitate the enthusiasm for the creation of rich interfaces in Flex. This is Thermo, a tool that allows to import files directly from Photoshop or Illustrator and in managing the layers, is able to transform them into dynamic objects Flex!

A small demo video:

Strongly beta!
